Contents | The first part of the course is about the philosophy and theory of (empirical social) science. Afterwards the techniques of selection, operationalization and data collection are presented. They are all necessary parts of writing and conducting a research design. |

Course objectives | The course aims at making students familiar with the key problems, tools and techniques of social research, in order to enable them to structure and conduct research projects. Also, an additional key goal is to allow students to competently and critically read, understand and contextualize the results of empirical research in the social sciences. |

Part III: Introduction to Qualitative research
7. Different goals; evaluation; sampling.
