Obiettivi formativi | Richiamare le proprietà fondamentali dell’equazione delle onde e altre equazioni differenziali della fisica. Introdurre lo studente alla meccanica quantistica e ai fondamenti della fisica dei solidi. |

Programma del corso | La corda tesa: equazione delle onde. Risoluzione col metodo della separazione delle variabili e serie di Fourier. Condizioni al contorno e condizioni iniziali. Modi normali. Autovalori. Equazione di diffusione e di conduzione del calore. Risoluzione in termini di trasformate di Fourier. Elettrostatica: equazioni di Poisson e Laplace. Esempi di risoluzione in un cilindro cavo col metodo della separazione delle variabili. Equazione di D'Alembert per la membrana vibrante in due dimensioni. Degenerazione degli autovalori. Curve nodali. Modi normali e modi ibridi. Elasticità: modulo di Young e di Poisson. Deformazioni uniformi, pressione idrostatica, sforzo di taglio e modulo di scorrimento. Mezzi elastici: tensore delle deformazioni, tensore degli sforzi, tensore di elasticità. Coefficienti di Lame'. Meccanica del corpo elastico: equazione di Lamé. Derivazione e soluzione. Onde S e onde P con velocità di propagazione. |

Course Syllabus | The tight rope: wave equation. Resolution with the method of separation of variables and Fourier series. Boundary conditions and initial conditions. Normal ways. Eigenvalues. Diffusion equation and heat conduction. Resolution in terms of Fourier transforms. Electrostatics: Poisson and Laplace equations. Examples of resolution in a hollow cylinder with the variable separation method. D'Alembert's equation for the vibrating membrane in two dimensions. Degeneration of eigenvalues. Nodal curves. Normal ways and hybrid ways. Elasticity: Young's and Poisson's modulus. Uniform deformations, hydrostatic pressure, shear stress and sliding module. Elastic means: deformation tensor, stress tensor, elasticity tensor. Coefficients of Blades'. Elastic body mechanics: Lamé equation. Derivation and solution. S waves and P waves with propagation speed. |
