    Obiettivi formativi

    Il corso è un’introduzione allo studio della teoria matematica delle equazioni di Navier-Stokes fornendo l’interpretazione fisico matematica di alcuni risultati analitici. Il corso ha come obiettivo di mostrare lo stato dell’arte sui risultati noti e di illustrare alcune questioni aperte.

    Al termine del corso, lo studente conoscerà i principali risultati classici relativi alla teoria analitica delle equazioni di Navier-Stokes e avrà acquisito la capacità di interpretarli da un punto di vista fisico matematico.
    In relazione alle abilità comunicative lo studente avrà acquisito un linguaggio e un formalismo atti a descrivere i problemi analitici relativi alle equazioni di Navier-Stokes e i corrispondenti risultati.
    In maniera guidata, allo studente è fornita la letteratura sul topic in guisa che sia capace di orientarsi per un arricchimento della propria preparazione e sia in grado di svolgere attività di seminari divulgativi.

    Prerequisiti

    Sono richieste conoscenze di base di meccanica dei fluidi e la conoscenza degli argomenti di Analisi Matematica e Geometria del corso di laurea triennale in Matematica.

    Metodologie didattiche

    Il corso è articolato in lezioni frontali (di cui 16 ore tenute dalla Prof.ssa Crispo e 48 ore dal Prof. Maremonti).
    La frequenza non è obbligatoria ma consigliata.

    Metodi di valutazione

    La prova orale consiste nella discussione di argomenti del programma svolto e alcune dissertazioni sulle principali nozioni acquisite. Oltre a verificare il livello di conoscenza raggiunto dallo studente, la prova orale mira ad accertare la comprensione degli argomenti e la capacità di saperli esporre.

Il metodo di Galerkin per soluzioni deboli di Hopf- Criteri di regolarità per le soluzioni deboli - Teorema di struttura nello spazio tempo di una soluzione debole, dimensione di Hausdorff dell’insieme dei punti di singolarità nello spazio tempo.

    Course objectives

    The course is an introduction to the study of the mathematical theory of the Navier-Stokes equations providing the Mathematical-Physics interpretation of some analytical results. The course aims to show the state of the art on known results and to illustrate some open questions.

    At the end of the course, the student will know the main classical results related to the analytical theory of the Navier-Stokes equations and will have acquired the ability to interpret them from a physical and mathematical point of view.
    In relation to communication skills, the student will have acquired a language and a formalism to describe the analytical problems related to the Navier-Stokes equations and the corresponding results.
    In a guided way, the student is provided with literature on the topic in such a way that he is able to orient himself for an enrichment of his own preparation and he is able to carry out activities of seminars.

    Prerequisites

    Basic knowledge of fluid mechanics and knowledge of the topics of Mathematical Analysis and Geometry of first level degree in Mathematics are required.

    Teaching methods

    The course is organized into lectures (of which 16 hours held by Prof. Crispo and 48 hours by Prof. Maremonti).
    Attendance is not mandatory but recommended.

    Evaluation methods

    The oral exam consists in the discussion of the topics of the program carried out and some dissertations on the main concepts acquired. In addition to verifying the level of knowledge reached by the student, the oral exam aims to ascertain the understanding of the topics and the ability to expose them.

    The mathematical model of Fluid Dynamics - Recalls on the distributional derivatives and Sobolev spaces - The spaces of Hydrodynamics, the Helmholtz decomposition and the Stokes operator - Concept of regular solution - The Galerkin method for regular solutions - The Lq theory - Regular solutions global in time: the two-dimensional case and the n-dimensional case for small data - Weak Hopf, Leray and Caffarelli, Kohn and Nirenberg solutions. The Galerkin method for Hopf weak solutions - Regularity criteria for weak solutions - Structure theorem of a weak solution, Hausdorff dimension of the set of singularity points in space-time.
