Si assume che gli studenti abbiano acquisito i contenuti dei corsi di Probability theory, Fundamentals of Computer Science e Fundamentals of programming.

PARTE I: MODELLAZIONE DI SISTEMI BASATI SU CALCOLATORE

Modelli per descrivere l'organizzazione o la composizione di sistemi: modelli strutturali e comportamentali.

Introduzione all'analisi di performability: prestazioni, affidabilità. Concetti e problematiche principali. Metriche.

Modellazione per analizzare il comportamento e le caratteristiche di un sistema: processi di Markov, reti di Petri (GSPN), reti di code (reti aperte e chiuse, reti multiclasse, reti multiclasse miste), alberi di errore.

Introduzione alla simulazione per l'analisi delle prestazioni. Strumenti per la valutazione dei sistemi: Java Modelling Tools e GreatSPN.

PARTE II: FONDAMENTI DEL WEB SEMANTICO

Descrizione semantica delle informazioni.
Ontologie. Linguaggio di descrizione delle ontologie OWL.

This course is twofold: the most of it is devoted to methodologies and techniques used to model and analyze computer systems, while an appendix presents the basics about semantic web.

Goal of the course is to provide students with the methodological means to model and evaluate computer systems and to understand the main issues about the semantic web.

Students are expected to have acquired the contents of Probability theory, Fundamentals of Computer Science and Fundamentals of programming courses.

PART I: MODELING OF COMPUTER SYSTEMS

Modeling to describe the organization or the composition of systems: structural and behavioral models.

Introduction to performability analysis: performances, dependability. Main concepts and issues. Metrics.

Modeling to analyze the behavior and the characteristics of a system: Markov processes, Petri nets (GSPN), queuing networks (open and closed networks, multiclass models, mixed multiclass models), fault trees.

Introduction to simulation for performance analysis. Tools for systems evaluation: Java Modelling Tools e GreatSPN.
