Durante il corso sarà distribuito del materiale didattico necessario per la preparazione al corso.

Al termine dell'insegnamento lo studente dovrà dimostrare:
Conoscenza e capacità di trovare, valutare criticamente, citare correttamente e utilizzare fonti di ricerca in matematica attendibili, in modo responsabile per la tesi di laurea ed eventuali pubblicazioni.

Lezioni frontali

L’esame si compone di una prova pratica scritta ed una prova orale.
La prova scritta mira ad accertarsi della competenze legate all’analisi di fonti di ricerca scritti in lingua inglese. La prova viene superata se quanto scritto è corretto e soddisfa i requisiti richiesti per citare fonte di ricerca utilizzando Council of Science Editors Style. La prova pratica è tenuta sotto forma di elaborato da consegnare e da discutere all’esame.
La prova orale mira a valutare le capacità di ragionamento sugli argomenti del corso la verifica delle conoscenze dello studente anche attraverso il collegamento di contenuti trasversali e la capacità espositiva.
Sono previste prove di esonero durante il corso.

Individuare, valutare, citare e utilizzare la ricerca responsabilmente ricerca dall'osservazione e formando una domanda per la selezione dei termini di ricerca e lo sviluppo di una dichiarazione di ricerca. Suggerimenti per la ricerca di database: operatori booleani.

Accadenic motori di ricerca: accesso aperto alle e-stampe in matematica, informatica e statistica.

Criteri per la valutazione delle fonti: accuratezza, autorità, obiettività, valuta e copertura

Documenti originali, manoscritti, utilizzati nella preparazione di un lavoro inedito e pubblicato.

During the course will be distributed the teaching material necessary for the preparation of the course.

The outcome strategy for this class is to prepare students with:
Knowledge and ability to find, critically evaluate, cite correctly and use reliable sources of research in mathematics, responsibly for writing a thesis and eventual publications.

A knowledge of English for mathematics

Face-to-face lessons.

The exam has both written and oral sections.
The written test aims at ensuring expertise related to the analysis of research sources written in the English language. The test is passed if the written assignment is correct and meets the requirements required to cite source research using Council of Science Editors Style. The practical “oral” test is a delivery and discussion at the exam.
The practical exam aims at assessing the reasoning skills on the course topics, the verification of the student's knowledge also through the linking of transversal contents and the exhibition capacity.
Evidence of exemption during the course is foreseen.

Research
From observation and forming a question to selection of research terms and developing a search statement. Database Search Tips: Boolean operators.

Accadenic search engines:
Open access to e-prints in Mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics.

Criteria for Evaluating Sources:
Accuracy, Authority, Objectivity, Currency, and Coverage

Sources:
Information sources: primary, secondary, tertiary, and grey areas.
Original documents, manuscripts, used in preparing an unpublished, published work.

Council of Science Editors (CSE) Style: The reference list at the end of the paper provides all the information your reader needs to track down your sources. In-text references in your sentences show your reader which sources support the claims and information of that sentence. Format in-text references. Cite multiple sources in one sentence. Cite sources in tables and figures. End References and Reference List.
