    WELCOME AND RECEPTION

The welcome will take place at Ex Convento di Sant'Agostino, the Contemporary Art Museum of Caserta, situated at via Mazzini, 16, at the first floor of the building (enter the gate, turn right, enter the building and take the stairs).

The reception will open at 18:00, together with the official opening of a new exhibition with an art critic available to visit the collection.
In order to let all conference participants arrive on time, the official opening with the Major of Caserta will start at 19:00, followed by a philological medieval dance show for ECMS that will involve all the people, followed by a welcome buffet until 21:00.

The Ex Convento di Sant'Agostino is a historical building dated 1441, currently under restoration, hosting the Library and the City Archive (https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convento_di_Sant%27Agostino_(Caserta)). The site is only 4 minutes of walk far from the CRS-SNA residence that will host the conference, in the city center pedestrian area, and near the nightlife area of Caserta, made of small streets that are peaceful and suggestive in the daytime and full of young people in the evenings, with their small restaurants, cosy pubs and small bars.

We recommend the participants that will get to Caserta earlier before 18:00 to take some time for a walk in the center, and to visit the Duomo di Sant'Arcangelo, the main church of the city. Another cosy location for the ones that can spend the morning in sightseeing is Casertavecchia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casertavecchia), the old city on the hill, reachable by buses stopping at the train station or by taxi, where you can find a medieval atmosphere, touristic restaurants with tipical food and a stunning view.

The path from the CRS-SNA to the Ex Convento di Sant'Agostino is in the map.

    SOCIAL PROGRAMME

We organized for you two visits to show you some of the relevant monuments of our territory.

On 12th, after the end of the last session, you can visit the Royal Apartments of the Reggia di Caserta (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Palace_of_Caserta) with our guide. This is only a part of the wonderful complex of the Reggia, sited just in front of CRS-SNA, that deserves, if you planned to stay in Caserta for more days, one day for a relaxed visit to the Park of the Reggia. In order to take part to the visit, please signal your will at the welcome, or at latest before the first plenary talk of the conference at the registration desk.

On 13th, after the end of the last session, a bus will be available to get to Santa Maria Capua Vetere and visit the Anfiteatro Campano (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amphitheatre_of_Capua), famous for Spartacus and his story. Here, after the visit, the social dinner will take place in a bio restaurant with local products and with a view on the Anfiteatro, Amico Bio Spartacus. Please consider that the city of Santa Maria Capua Vetere is 10 km far from Caserta, and the only alternatives to our bus service, that will also bring participants back to the CRS-SNA residence atthe end of the social dinner, to reach the city is a local train leaving every 40 minutes (please check timetable at www.trenitalia.it) from the train station of Caserta (or a taxi, with an extra-urban tariff).
We recommend comfortable shoes for the visit: the restaurant does not require a formal dress code.

If you stay more in Caserta and want advice for spending your evenings or have dinner in the other days, feel free to ask the Chair!
