«Coboundaries and Moving Averages in Dynamical Systems»
Abstract: Moving averages are an interesting class of stochastic processes that have importance both in theory and applications of dynamical systems and statistical analysis. We review the basic principles and then present recent new results on when these averages converge, in terms of the initial data and the underlying transformations.
Coboundaries are also very important in both theoretical and applied dynamical systems. We explain how they are relevant to the convergence of moving averages. Then we present recent work showing the intricacies of solving the coboundary problem.
This talk is based on joint work with Dr. Terry Adams.
